Property CGI FAQs

Q: What is a CGI?
A: Computer-generated imagery (CGI for short) is the application of computer graphics to create or contribute to images in art, printed media, video games, films, television programs, commercials, videos, and simulators. (cit. Wikipedia)

Q: What do you require to create CGIs, 3D Visualisations and 3D Animations?
A: Ideally we will need floor plans, elevations and sections of the building. We can work with 2D / 3D models created in the most common programs such as AutoCAD, Revit, 3DS Maz, SketchUp, etc. Scaled PDF or paper drawings can also be used. We will also need a list of materials you are intending to use.

Q: How do you decide which viewpoint is best for the final CGI and 3D Animation?
A:We create a basic model to mock up a viewpoint, create camera views and issue draft for your approval. Once the various viewpoints are agreed, we will proceed with the modelling, add realistic/accurate materials and texture to the model, and include furniture and lighting to add life and mood. We will then proceed with rendering the image, ready for the finishing touches. The rendered image is then enhanced in photo retouching software and the final CGI will be sent to you.

Q: How do you select the furniture you will be using in the CGIs?
A: Our design team will contact you and discuss with you the mood and feeling you want to achieve depending on the target audience. We have a large catalogue of furniture, fittings and fixtures for you to choose from. Our team can also assist you in designing and creating bespoke 3D furniture and fittings.

Q: Do you include trees, plans and vegetation in general in your CGIs?
A: Yes, our aim is to model our CGIs and 3D Animations as realistically as possible. We will use plants models available in our library.

Q: I don’t have a high resolution image to include on the photomontage CGI!
A: That’s not a problem at all. We have a national network of photographers that can help you with this. We will liaise directly with them by explaining the nature of your project and what you would like to achieve before they make a visit to the site.

Q: Can I make amendments to the CGI?
A: Of course, our team will send you constant updates and drafts during the process. We always include a minimum of 3 set of amendments per project within our fees.

Q: How long does it take you to create a CGI?
A: Depending on the complexity of the project, we normally need a minimum of 3 working days to create a small CGI. We will always include the estimated turnaround in our written quotation.

Q: So, how do I place an order?
A: If you are interested to go ahead with your project and decided to instruct use to create your CGIs and 3D Animations please contact our team via email or telephone for a free quotation.
